Lads & Dads camp – Chatsworth Estate
Lads and Dads camp is open to all Scouts in both Wednesday and Thursday Troops.
What is it ?
In a word FUN - just ask the Dads who went last year! As the title says, it’s camp for Scouts and their dads – A chance to get away and spend quality time together and with others. There will be a competition running throughout the weekend to find the champion Lad and Dad but the emphasis will be firmly on fun and friendship.
What do we do at the camp?
You will arrive Friday around 6.15 – 6.45pm and will be setting up the camp and getting to know each other. Saturday will be packed with activities that count towards the best lad and dad competition that runs through the weekend. Other activities will include lads v dads games, personal challenges, camp fires and lots more. If you have any doubts – ask one of the many dads who went last year ! We close at 3pm on Sunday.
Do I need any special equipment ?
No. Just your personal gear, warm clothes and a chair to relax in. We will provide all other activity and safety equipment.
What else do we do ?
There will plenty of time for relaxation, especially in the evenings where dads will be able to have chat with the other dads over a beer or two !
How much is it?
£45 each (£90 for the lad and dad pair). Please send a cheque to your Leader made payable to 20th Sheffield Scout Group and marked on the back Lads and Dads.
How do I book my place ?
There are only 16 places available so email Andrew immediately. For safeguarding reasons you will need to complete an occasional helper form and get a DBS check (new name for CRB), which will be emailed to you. You need to fill in the forms, return to us and we will do the rest! If you have one from last year’s Lads and Dads camp, this is still valid so you do not need to fill in the forms again. To book your place, email your Leader. Fill in the form OH and bring ID after checking this list – ID_Checking_Guidance_v1_2_July_2014

Thank you to everyone who braved the weather and enjoyed a great bonfire and fireworks display at Common Lane Open Space.
Over 400 people turned up and we raised over £400 for new camping equipment.
Thanks also to the army of parents who turned out to help set up and run the bonfire and to the committee and leaders who made it all happen.
Lads and Dads Camp : A fantastic weekend for the 15 pairs of Lads and Dads, blessed with some great weather on the Chatsworth estate. We made portable stoves, went caving, drank nettle tea and made mento and coke rockets. Topped off with camp fires and lots of food the camp was great fun and adventure for all. The winners this year were James and Mike Rodgers. If you have more photo’s – please email them so we can share on the website. Big thanks to the EXU members who came and helped cook.
Over 100 members of the Group and their families turned out to see Andrew carry the Olympic Torch in Sheffield, cheering and waving flags. Thank you so much – it was simply and amazing experience. We have Photo’s in the gallery and see the video below of our Scout Group. (more…)
