Annual General Meeting, 17 October, 8.15pm
All parents and adult supporters of 20th Sheffield are invited to the Group’s Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 17 October at 8.15pm in the upstairs function room at The Banner Cross pub on Ecclesall Road.
This is expected to be a short formal meeting to approve the annual accounts, the nomination and appointment of the committee, and hear a brief report from the Group Scout Leader about the Group’s activities over the last 12 months.
Section Leaders will be present and available to discuss their programmes. Please show your support for them; they give up hundreds of hours to look after your children and appreciate the chance to meet and talk to parents.
20th Sheffield is run by a dedicated group of leaders supported by a committee of parent volunteers and an Active Support Unit (ASU). The committee and ASU are looking for new members. If you would like to get involved on the committee, please make yourself known at the meeting or contact chris@staves.org.uk. If you’d like to know more about the ASU, please contact Neil Benson activesupport@20th.org.uk.

Sponsored Walk: 17 September 2017
All 20th Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorer Scouts and their family and friends are invited to take part in our sponsored walk to help us raise money to replace our minibus. Our target is £4000.
There are 5 routes to choose from, depending on how far you’d like to walk. All the routes are timed to finish at the Common Land on Common Lane at approximately 4.30pm. Obviously, a lot depends on how fast you walk!
There will be a BBQ and refreshments at the finish.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award: programme for 2017-18
We are pleased to announce the launch of our 2017-18 Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme. Our 2016 cohort of 24 Explorer Scouts (15 Silver and 9 Gold) are progressing really well. We’d love to have similar numbers this year! To enrol for the Silver Award, you need to be aged 15 on or before 24 July 2018. To enrol for the Gold Award, you need to be aged 16 on or before 30 March 2018.
Please see this Flyer for more information.
Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
In 2016, we launched the DofE Award at the 20th, enabling our Explorer Scouts to undertake the Silver and Gold Awards. We have 24 Explorer Scouts working towards their Awards: 9 for Gold and 15 for Silver.
After attending training sessions covering route planning, navigation, camp-craft and first aid, and undertaking a practice expedition, our Silver participants completed their Qualifying Expedition over the Spring Bank Holiday. They navigated a 50km route over 3 days and 2 nights in the White Peak, carrying all of their equipment.
WELL DONE to all three teams!

answerthat! Saturday 23rd April
answerthat! is a quiz night with a difference.
Another great night of fun at the Parish Hall with over 100 parents and friends enjoying rounds such as Have I got news for you, Countdown and Question of Sport. A big thank you to all who came and also to EXU, the exec committee and Leaders who organised the event raising funds for camping equipment and hopefully some new Kayaks for the summer.
See a selection of event photos here!
