All parents and adult supporters of 20th Sheffield are invited to the Group’s Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 17 October at 8.15pm in the upstairs function room at The Banner Cross pub on Ecclesall Road.
This is expected to be a short formal meeting to approve the annual accounts, the nomination and appointment of the committee, and hear a brief report from the Group Scout Leader about the Group’s activities over the last 12 months.
Section Leaders will be present and available to discuss their programmes. Please show your support for them; they give up hundreds of hours to look after your children and appreciate the chance to meet and talk to parents.
20th Sheffield is run by a dedicated group of leaders supported by a committee of parent volunteers and an Active Support Unit (ASU). The committee and ASU are looking for new members. If you would like to get involved on the committee, please make yourself known at the meeting or contact email@example.com. If you’d like to know more about the ASU, please contact Neil Benson firstname.lastname@example.org.
Well done to the nine Explorer Scouts who completed their Gold Qualifying Expedition
Start date: 21/08/2017, End date: 24/08/2017.
We travelled to the Yorkshire Dales for the acclimatisation Day on 20 August. The Explorer Scouts started their expedition near Studfold camp site, grid ref SE098732 and finished at Askrigg Church, grid ref SD947910. Distance covered: 55 miles (88 km) with 9455 feet (2882 metres) of ascent. They camped at Kettlewell, St. Joseph’s Wood (nr. Aysgarth Falls), and Keld.
All 20th Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorer Scouts and their family and friends are invited to take part in our sponsored walk to help us raise money to replace our minibus. Our target is £4000.
There are 5 routes to choose from, depending on how far you’d like to walk. All the routes are timed to finish at the Common Land on Common Lane at approximately 4.30pm. Obviously, a lot depends on how fast you walk!
There will be a BBQ and refreshments at the finish.

We are celebrating another fantastic year at 20th Sheffield Scout Group with the Big Bouncy Blow Out!
Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Parents, Friends and Family are all welcome to join us at Abbeydale Sports Club for an evening of fun and food!
We have hired out five of the best inflatable games out there, consisting of;
> A massive 25 foot Bouncy Castle
> A super long 40 foot Bungee Run
> An even longer 60 foot assault course
> Gladiator Jousting
> Sumo Wrestling Suits
You get unlimited use of all of these for the price of a £5 wristband (6yrs+). For anyone not wanting to go on the inflatables, you are welcome to the event free of charge.
We’ll be running field games alongside the inflatable festivities. There’s also a BBQ serving proper foot long hotdogs and Beef Burgers, and a full bar for the over 18s.

An action packed weekend of fun and adventure.
This year we are trying a new location – Dalehead Bunkhouse near Edale. You will get to be a Scouting Pioneer and go somewhere no (Thursday) Scout has been before!
Last year we did loads of activities; including astronomy, canal football, a night hike to look at the haunted railway, and orienteering at Black Rocks. Plus our epic feature presentation from a world away, “The Martian”.
This year we will be doing new things! What activity would *you* like to do? What film would you like to watch?
Tell a Leader!
Weekends away and Summer Camp are the times when we do the most things – miss them and miss out what being in Scouts is all about.
