Summer Camp 2020 – Kent
This year’s Summer camp is in Kent near Deal in between Ham and Sandwich (really it is!) The site is a field surrounded by trees and there is a camp fire circle. The woods will be used for games and bridge building activities. We are near to some great beaches and also to Dover Castle and other great activities.
Summer camp is the most important event of the year – all our training leads to the camp where you will be living and cooking as a patrol and most importantly, having loads of fun! Y6’s are not to young to come – they will be almost Y7 by the time of the camp! Speak to other parents about the benefits of Summer Camp.
Who should come ?
All scouts are encouraged to attend the camp as we put into practice all the training that we do during the year and it’s also a chance to get away from mum and dad for a couple of weeks! It’s also a chance for Y6 Scouts to mix with older children before they move schools.
Summer Camp is the most important experience in Scouts – to miss it is to miss out on what being a Scout is all about.
What do we do ?
Scouts camp in Patrols and prepare and cook all meals for themselves and the leaders. The rest of the time you can look forward to activities such as
swimming volleyball visits and trips body boarding in the sea
water slide park rope bridges
beach activities football cricket free time
How do I sign up and pay ?
You sign up and pay via MyScout in stages to spread the cost. You also pay in spending money into the system and we operate a camp bank during the camp when you can take out small amounts to spend each day. Bookings now open!
Summer Camp 2019
10th August – 24th August – Gower, Wales
Our 2019 Summer Camp was on the Gower peninsular in Wales.
We camped for 2 weeks on farmland a short walk to some massive beaches. The site was surrounded by woods so we built bivvy shelters and had a survival weekend cooking meals on a fire, and pioneering projects in the trees.
Other activities included coasteering and sea cliff climbing and trips to Swansea’s award winning interactive museums.
Summer Camp 2018 – Bude , Cornwall 12th- 26th August
Our 2018 Summer Camp is in in Bude , Cornwall. We are camping on a farm next to the canal where we can use the kayaks. A short walk along the tow path gets us to a massive beach for swimming, games, jumping pools, crabbing and lots of body boarding.

Summer Camp 2017
Summer Camp 2017 was in an open field surrounded by woods near Deal in Kent. We played volleyball, cricket and football, had trips to some great beaches plus an amazing day at a slide park in France. We visited a funfair and a great day exploring Dover Castle. On the site we built shelters and slept in them and cooked on wood fires for the long weekend. 2 weeks of great fun for all the scouts 🙂

Summer Camp 2016 – Poole Harbour Dorset
Another Summer Camp is over 🙁
17 Scouts and Leaders camped in a field on the banks of Poole Harbour with the only facility being one tap.
The weather was scorching and much time was spent in the lagoon, swimming, canoeing, diving, on the rope swing or just cooling off. With visits to the Tank Museum, Studland beach and a Total Wipeout course, plus cooking on open fires for the weekend the Scouts had a great time.
By just doing what we do, the Scouts gained many awards which will be presented at the first meeting back. Summer Camp is a vital part of a Scout’s progression.

Exploring Thor’s Cave
9th April 2016 : Thursday Scouts and EXU Explorers hiked to and explored Thor’s Cave – and encountered many electric fences!
The aim was to practice new navigation and exploring and skills was shockingly good fun! See the video and more pics on our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/20thScouts/
