Northbourne Park School,
Who should come ?
All scouts are encouraged to attend the camp as we put into practice all the training that we do during the year and it’s also a chance to get away from mum and dad for a couple of weeks! It’s also a chance for Y6 Scouts to mix with older children before they move schools. Summer Camp is the most important experience in Scouts – to miss it is to miss out on what being a Scout is all about.
What do we do ?
Scouts camp in Patrols and prepare and cook all meals for themselves and the leaders. The rest of the time you can look forward to activities such as
swimming volleyball visits and trips bivouacking
water slide park rope bridges
beach activities football cricket free time
How do I sign up and pay ?
You sign up and pay via OSM in stages to spread the cost. You also pay in spending money into the system and we operate a camp bank during the camp when you can take out small amounts to spend each day. Sign up now!
22nd – 24th September
Our annual Lads and Dads camp will once again be held in the wilds of the Chatsworth Estate.
The camp is open to Scouts from both Troops and will be an action packed weekend full of fun and challenges for Lads and Dads to do together plus Lads v Dads games and challenges. Although at the end of the weekend we will crown our new champion Lad and Dad, the emphasis of the weekend is on fun. There will time each evening to relax around the fire.
Go to MyScout to sign up and pay for the event.
For safeguarding reasons you will need to complete a DBS Check – the new name for CRB. The form is available here Please get the form to your leader as soon as possible. Once processed you will be invited to confirm which ID documents you will be presenting for checking. After this, you will have to meet with us so we can see the ID and confirm it on the system.
ID : Click here to see acceptable forms of ID
If you have a scout DBS check from last 5 years, this is still valid so no need for the above process. A DBS from another body / employer is not acceptable.
All 20th Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorer Scouts and their family and friends are invited to take part in our sponsored walk to help us raise money to replace our minibus. Our target is £4000.
There are 5 routes to choose from, depending on how far you’d like to walk. All the routes are timed to finish at the Common Land on Common Lane at approximately 4.30pm. Obviously, a lot depends on how fast you walk!
There will be a BBQ and refreshments at the finish.

17 Scouts and Leaders camped in a field on the banks of Poole Harbour with the only facility being one tap.
The weather was scorching and much time was spent in the lagoon, swimming, canoeing, diving, on the rope swing or just cooling off. With visits to the Tank Museum, Studland beach and a Total Wipeout course, plus cooking on open fires for the weekend the Scouts had a great time.
By just doing what we do, the Scouts gained many awards which will be presented at the first meeting back. Summer Camp is a vital part of a Scout’s progression.
Some of the photos are in the gallery with more to be added. Check them out –

9th April 2016 : Thursday Scouts and EXU Explorers hiked to and explored Thor’s Cave – and encountered many electric fences!
The aim was to practice new navigation and exploring and skills was shockingly good fun! See the video and more pics on our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/20thScouts/
This is a staged award – this means that the lower category might be a bit easier for you as it is aimed at younger members. Just pick the level you think you can do and let me know at the next meeting.
The requirements for each level can be found at Digital Citizen. Click the link!
Go on – have a go!
An action packed weekend of fun and adventure.
During the weekend we did loads of activities for the Astronomers badge including building a star globe, gazing at Orien’s nebula, star spotting the major constellations and watching the movie “The Martian”.
We played canal football, went on a night hike to look at the haunted railway and on Saturday we did the orienteering course at Black Rocks.
All the Scouts took part in the national #youshape week and visited the diary room to tell the camera what they want to do while in Scouts. All the activities helped the Scouts pass various parts of the challenge awards – Check out MyScout to see how they are doing on each award.
Weekends away and Summer Camp are the times when we do the most things – miss them and miss out what being in Scouts is all about.
